Marine Survey Services

What type of marine survey do I need?

Purchase Survey:

  • A purchase survey is a comprehensive report describing the condition of the boat being purchased.
  • All onboard systems are inspected and tested, as far as reasonably possible.
  • When required, the bottom and underwater gear inspected during haul out.
  • The interior areas will be accessed and inspected in a non-destructive manner wherever possible.
  • The report will be put together using US Coast Guard, American Boat and Yacht Council, National Fire Protection Association and Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors standards.
  • Recommendations will be clearly defined, with market value, replacement cost, and general information regarding the overall condition of the boat.
  • A Sea Trial may be included in this survey. Price to be determined.

Insurance Survey:

  • An insurance survey is performed for the boat's current owner, most often at the request of an insurance company for policy renewal or by a finance company if refinancing.
  • This survey determines whether or not the boat is a good insurable risk.
  • The report will be put together using US Coast Guard, American Boat and Yacht Council, National Fire Protection Association and Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors standards.

Appraisals:

  • An appraisal is a survey to determine the current fair market value of the boat.
  • As part of the appraisal, the overall condition of the boat and current economy are used to determine the fair market value.
  • All onboard equipment, options and general maintenance are inspected.
